Where are the best resources on the 'net for suppressors?
Is subguns.com the best place to go for advice?
In particular, I have a hankering to set up a 1911 Colt Commander for a suppressor. Any experience / pointers / tips / words of advice are welcome. Of course, all NFA rules / regulations / laws will be followed.
What cans would you recommend for a Commander? Gemtech? Knights Armament? SWR? AAC? Websites / links / URLs are welcome.
I'd prefer a setup where I can disable / enable a Nielsen device (Linear Coupler Device) to change the action from single to semi.

Yes. Colorado is still a free state. (Not enough Kalifornians have migrated here yet.) Must follow Federal law.
{Some cities / counties (think Denver) may have limitations in place, but the state added firearms pre-emption a few years back. The Colorado Supreme Court is actually addressing challenges to that state pre-emption legislation at this time.}

Oh geezus
OK, despite the "keyboard patriot" comment, I'll give you a reply anyway:
Subguns.net is no more reliable than any other web forum (no less so, either).
The four you mentioned are all decent makes. If it gives you an idea of which might be better, Knights Armament is the supplier of suppressors for all H&K weapons systems (except the MP5SD cans, which are made in-house by H&K).

Steve,
PM "trigger" and "Gunslinger808" from the forum member list. Tell them you know me, and I can provide verification as to who you are if they think they need it.
Either/or should have good info on what you are looking for and resources for them as well.

Here's a site for edification and drooling:
www.Silencertests.com
In order of MY preferences are
1 Gemtech/good price, tech support
2 AAC/2nd place due to crappy customer services
3 Knights Armament/EXPENSIVE!
A new up and coming company in the suppressor market is Surefire, the same company that makes flashlights.
I personally have not had a chance to do any T&E with their products, but word from those I know that have are all good.
As for your particular wants, a couple of points to ponder,
Do you want a wet or dry suppressor?
Do you want to have one you can break down and clean?
Make sure it has a stainless steel back, they last longer and the threads won't get cross threaded as easy.
Price vs DB, how much are you really willing to pay for an extra 5 DB loss.
The nice thing with a .45 suppressor is it can be used on a .40 cal. weapon as well, you gain only about 3-5 DB from the smaller bullet diamiter.
And yes, a pistol suppressor can be used on a pistol caliber rifle, like a .45 AR.
Finally, the newer suppressors are set up for semi/full auto, a slide lock will not minimize sound as much as you think, and can actually cause undue wear on your weapon.

Relatively unknown outside of California is Tactical Operations, CEO Mike Rescigno of Beverly Hills, CA. Some of Mike's patrons are Los Angeles County Sheriffs Swat/Sniper Teams, aka (SEB) Sheriffs Enforcement Bureau, Huntigton Beach, etc, etc,.
Mike is a true professional and has been written up in SWAT Magazine. He makes the best "Cans" around, and is the only person to make a real working silencer for a Shotgun.
He also makes superb sniper rifles. I own one, an Echo 51. Shoots 1/4 minute groups at 110 yds.
His website is www.tacticaloperations.com

Not to be a knitpicker but SEB stands for Special Enforcement Bureau. Originally it was SED, Special Enforcement Detail and grew into a bureau which now has several details within it.
