In the last month, the German government has released or will be releasing to the US 17,000 HK P7 PSP's.
The P7s coming in are graded A, B, and C. The grading system is NOT based on "finish condition" but instead, is based on number of rds fired through the pistols with the A graded guns being the newer, less fired ones.
I've seen two C's, and one each of the A and B graded PSP's come into the shop in the last three weeks. The C graded guns look almost as good as the A graded weapons.
Each gun comes in either a black plastic HK box or the older cardboard boxes and have stickers that show the marked/graded condition on the outside. HK Germany took the police trade-ins from the Saxony region, armorers then made sure the guns were serviceable and replaced recoil springs, firing pin springs, etc as necessary, and then graded them for export to HK USA, who themselves are now pushing these into distributors hands.
The PSP's come with one magazine, and usually a gas system cleaning brush and firing pin takedown tool, though some are being released without the tool or brush at times.
There seems to be enough vendors selling extra magazines at the moment. It has been suggested that they came into HK USA with three mags and are being shipped with one, so that would suggest 34,000 mags are available here in the US for purchase until they dry up.
Numrich arms/E-Gunparts.com has PSP spare parts available as does HK themselves. These trade in guns are not warranteed from HK so if you need service you'll be charged for the work.

Dave,
CDNN has the B graded PSP's right now for 599.25. The A grades are going about 700.00 and the C graded guns about 525.00. This is a good opportunity to pick one up for short money comparatively speaking from the regular P7's.
Those coming in all have the heel type mag release which doesn't bother me at all, though some want the americanized version ambi mag release.
I've owned three of the P7's in the past, one being the staggered mag version [ m13 ]. One of the most accurate pistols I've ever fired with the fixed barrel just like the Walther pp series. Of course I ordered one of the PSPs from CDNN and picked up another at the shop two weeks ago.
As HK is no longer making the P7 series, they'll all go up in price over a few years as people scramble to get one before they are gone completely.

Here's a few pics of the "B" graded PSP's coming into the US being discussed.
All grades have some holster wear. My C and B graded PSP's show holster wear, but when both were broken down, and the grips removed to see the working parts in the frame, neither looked like they had been shot very much at all and had minimal wear on parts.
Very, very serviceable hardly fired weapons

Went up to the Silver King silver mine today and was wearing the PSP P7 I recently snapped up.
As I had remembered, these P7's are accurate to the extreme with the fixed barrel. Ran some 300 rds through the bore and no bobbles in any way. The trigger guard does get hot without the heat shield on the early PSP's like mine, but the P7's with heat shield heat up as well.
One is hard pressed to tell if the plastic shield is even there, the heat generated through the trigger guard due to the gas system is about the same and doesn't give much relief over the ones like mine without the heat shield.
I like this gun, very flat with NO protusions like safety levers, mag levers/buttons, etc. Being all steel and consequently heavy, felt recoil is almost non existant.
Cleaned and back to street/shop ready.
After first shooting the P7 in the late 1980's, I stated this is one gun design the Germans can keep. I'm Sorry but no matter how many times I've shot one I have never been able to warm up to them. Or, should I say they warm up to me way too fast for my trigger finger:eek:

No question they heat up around the trigger guard/trigger area due to the design.
Good for maybe 4 quick mags then it's getting pretty warm:(
7677, did you see these while in Europe or here in the states?
The first time I shot one was in Germany and it was the P7-13 that was issued to the German Police with the 13 round magazine. I was surprised that the gun became uncomfortably hot by the end of the third magazine. IIRC the grip area was extremely blocky and the gun had a heal magazine release, although every P7-8&13 I have shot state side has had standard magazine release. I felt the Sig 225 was just as accurate and a better gun even thought it had less capacity.
Accuracy was excellent but a as combat gun the heat issue is a real problem. And you know me I heat them up way to quick...I'll stick with my tactical Tupperware...Glocks. Which is funny because I didn't like Glocks then either and for some reason no one had a Glock while I was in Germany and didn't I didn't get to shoot one until I was stateside and shortly after I bought my first G19 in 1995.

I went back to carrying the G17 for a few weeks until yesteray when I changed the holsters out on the belt. Now I'm back to the P7 PSP strongside again.
We've had 30 days this summer that have been over 110 degrees, it's a new record in Az. This P7 sits flat, seems to be less weight on the belt than the G17 [ though it may not be ], and is just more comfortable to carry right now.
