Hi everyone,
I dont know how many people from Europe come to this Forum, we will see.
I am currently preparing a Class on FAS PSing in Czech Republic. The Class will be tought in English by an Instructor from UK.
It will be a 2 day class. Day 1 Basics with Pistol, day 2 dynamic scenarios and Rifle/Carbine PSing. This is the outline I worked out with the Instructor so far.
Anybody interested, please, contact me. We can still work on the outline, it will be a custom designed Class anyway. The dates will be finalised soon, I am thinking about end of May/beginning of July right now, but we can talk about it.

That would not be Martin Cooper by any chance?
Better known to us as Coops.

That is the Gentleman, I didnt find him registered here so I didnt want to throw any names around. For prospective students: it is a very easy-to-talk-to person, very open and friendly, simply a nice guy. He answered my stupid questions with smart answers and made the Outline of the Class acording to my wishes. Since the first post I have already spoke to some friend LEO and he might be bringing some of his coleagues along, so the second day might be focused more on what Police people need, like team cooperation, room domination etc. I cant wait for the Class. Would any of the experienced PS Instructors from US (QK, QS etc) consider comming to Europe to teach?
Matt, thank you very much for pointing me to this Forum, lots of knowledge being given and very nice people. No insults here, are we still on the Internet?

Coops is well qualified to teach such a class.
Not only has he trained with many instructors ( including myself) but he was the SWAT commander of his unit until his recent retirement.
I have taught in Europe--Sweden, Poland and the U.K.--and would be very willing to do so again.
I am not going to Sweden this summer, but we could make other arrangements in the near future.
I believe 7677 has relatives in Germany?

Hello gentlemen and thank you for the kind words. It's good to be amongst friends again. Hah! Matt, I knew I had conned you into thinking I knew what I was doing:)
Bugaboo, you are very kind. I just hope I can live up to what you have said. We'll chat via e.mail nearer the time about the needs for the course, i.e. civillian as opposed to police training.
A bugbear I have is sometimes the ordinary officer is left out. It's fine for the men in black, they get all the HRT/SWAT training thrown at them, but what about the undercover guy, or the CROPs officer out there on his own relying on his wits. I would hope a portion of the training might be simed in their direction. I should imagine that the cops who attended you Israeli taught courses were SWAT - yes or no? Either way, I'm looking forward to it already. I just hope I can come up with the goods.
Anyway folks, it's really nice to be here.

No, they were ordinary street Cops, the SWAT are too proud to come. The guys I am in touch with are those who answer emergency calls. Serious guys, they pay out of their own pocket for training they are not getting from their department. I have respect for them.

I hope others on the forum don't take this the wrong way, but that is good news to me. Now I have retired into the consultantitive business (read:hired help:~) I find it difficult sometimes to get some training principles over to my old firearms team (SWAT for want of a better term) and I worked with them for 15 years when I was in the force. To be honest though, some of these guys are relitively new to the real world of firearms work. Some of them think that simply putting on the costume makes them into a skilled operator:~( It saddens me.
I am extremely pleased and honoured to be able to train with people with this ammount of professional outlook. As we have discussed it already Bugaboo, are you happy to go with one day of the basics on the range. Then the second day we could start on the range with some dynamic live fire stuff, but then move into tactics (two person room clearing, vehicle searching, etc). We can also look at some close protection shooting if you wish...
Waddy fink? anyone else want to butt in?

Coops,
It sounds perfect. You are the Instructor and you know if it is possible to cover it in this amount of time.
I remeber what kind of questions the Cops asked the Israeli guys and how happy they were with answeres based on real experience. Me as a civie when there is trouble I am obliged by the law to try to get away from it. Cops dont have that luxury and they know it.
Last night I learned in the TV News that we really joined the civilized world, there almost was some active-shooter situation in one High School here. Just the kids were smart enough and told the teachers a guy has a shotgun in his closet, so nothing happened. The police found out he intended to shoot another kid over a girl. But who knows what will happen next time. If I am close I will not go away, just cant.

And neither should you. I'm sure your laws cover the same areas as ours do in the UK and that means that if you have an honestly held belief that you need to use force in the self defence of yourself or someother person then that is what you MUST do.
If you weren't armed and you saw a man entering a school with a shotgun I am sure you would use your legal right to do something about it. The same applies if you are armed. Gun laws in various countries are different, so in the UK I might not have the option available to engage with a firearm, but that aside, the laws are similar apertaining to a Common Law right to self defence.
As it happened in thecase you mention, even though armed the police were able to resolve the issue without the use of firearms and that is by far the most favourable outcome.

You are right, ofcourse. The situation got defused only thanks to the kids telling the teachers. Ofcourse it is good no violence had to be used and nothing happened to anybody. Just scarry...

Hello, Gentlemen. I lurk on this forum from the first days and post here sometimes. Great place to meet old friends.
Coops, It would be great to see you again and to take advantage of your teaching. Can't wait for this.
Bugaboo, thank you for the invitation. As to possibility to bring gun to Czech it is more than I could expect. Yes, that would be great. Also need some information about rules of carry the weapon in your country.
Matt, I've read posts # 16 - 18 and must say that's the way of thinking I like very much. Don't lose that way :)
In 2007 that will be three years after our last beer. It's a long time, isn't it?

Much too long. I can still feel the recoil of that heavy machine gun, not to mention the small scar from the sniper scope I still have.
But in 2007 I will be there and I will drag along 7677--after he meets my in laws for my kid's Swedish birthday party.
Glad to see you here and I have been after Ulf to have the Malmo SWAT team hook up with your boys.
I will keep pushing for that.

Ha! so the great close range empresario got 'scoped' because he tried shooting from a distance:D
Just joking Matt. I got scoped many times when I used to play with those long guns. It doesn't hurt - the embarrasment covers up the pain.
Errr, if you and 7577 are over in 2007, how do I go on about getting an invite?

Since when do you need a formal invitation?
Yours is always assumed.
As to getting scoped....Slawkas sniper is in such good physical shape that he can get his body into shooting positions that I can only dream of.
And I payed the price by trying to emulate him.
Yes..2007 should be a good time.
Maybe we can all make it a multi country summer.

Don't worry about vodka. As a true Gentleman you know how to sip Perrignan to keep company to The Queen as well as how to booze with some veterans in the middle of eastern forest. But not this time. I'm going to arrange daylong sessions in the range to make you a free man for a couple of days :-)
