About 2 weeks back I e-mailed Brownie to tell him that I liked the way he explained how to point shoot.
We exchaned e-mails and he showed an interest in my WWII experience.
He suggested that the Forum might find it interesting.

Brownie,
I feel I have to expand on my participation in WWII as it is a rather
unque experience.
my Father was a retired Navy Doctor and arrived in the Philippines shortly
after the Battle of Manila bay in 1898. He was a Corpsman then with the US
Marines.
My Mother was the daughter of the Spanish Garrison commander.
My Father on retiring in 1905 started a Rubber plantation, He is credited with
introducing the cultivation and production of Rubber in the Philippines. I
was born there.
My Father was in Manila at the out brake of the war and was interned in
Los Banos concentration camp.
My family was active in the Guerilla movement and when the US Army 41st.Div. liberated our island we joind forces with them. I and my brothers and
in-laws saw active service with the 41st for 4 months even though I was not
officially a member of the US army I was only 14 years old.
In the Ken Burns WWII dcumentary "The War" I was asked as were others to
contribute their personal experience of the war. I sent in mine but was not
included in the series. you will find my write up on the site below.

alex,

Thanks for posting this up here on the forum. I'm sure many members will be out to the link, it's fascinating reading.

Thanks again for your service to this great country. You ww2 alumni are losing people at an astounding rate daily in this country.

Please feel free to relate first hand accounts and your experiences from that time for all of the members here. Your legacy and accomplishments should not go untold, unheard or unread by others. The history will be important to remember and gives everyone insight into an era thats almost forgotten by most now.

Welcome aboard, stay sharp
