Not alot of effort I know. I can shoot weak hand accuratly but I am not quick. This is paradign change for me compared to when I was active. Now I shoot for the enjoyment. With the limitted time I have to shoot I have to work on what will most likely happen. I can hear the what if's but screw it. I would rather have the edge strong side and if something happens I will change tactics from aggressive to oppertunity.

My percentage is probably below 20%. It used to be a lot higher, but this is not my current focus right now.
It is a skill that once you get over the initial "completely inept" phase stays with you. But you have to get over that initial phase. I ran a couple of courses with a mirrored setup and worked both hands alternatively. They were tactics courses so it gave me a good deal of exposure to many different circumstances. My instructors actually commented that I was probably faster left handed. That may be so, but I was just not as comfortable or confident. Without those two things, I found that my hits were just not quite as good.
What I did find was that my ability to transition hands was now done on a subconscious level. I would run through different tactical problems, during the debriefs the instructor would comment on the very nice transitions. I would not even remember that I transitioned and they would inform me that I had done it, when it was appropriate, for every corner and angle.
Great skill to own!
Like JM I can shoot weak side accurately but real slow, working on that. Funny that the trigger control is about the onlt thing that does not seem awkward.
SNB,
I hope you are right about getting over the inept stage. Trying to go faster really is a b!+ch.
I probably should just take a class and force myself to go weak side.

40 views and three responses.
Figured the thread would generate more responses, very interesting

I did vote in the poll, roughly 10% I figure, one never knows. I don't envision being "wounded in combat" or such. I can for see a work related injury to my dominant hand/arm though or something similar.
Don't feel bad Brownie, I think I posted the first poll (Reload options for your revolver) and I got 4 responses, 12 answered the poll, and 104 viewed...go figure?
(I have to change my mouthwash....:p )
