Was talkin with B tonight and we decided to start an over/under thread. I'll add picture's later but wanted to get people thinking. I'm a certified rabbit/bird hunting maniac! I have two O/U shotguns currently. One a Browning Feather Weight in 20 gauge the other a Charles Dailey in 12. I've shot or hunted with most of the shotguns available 20 years ago. The O/U to me was the ultimate hunting gun. What do you think about that?:)

I'm ashamed to say I never owned an O/U but I've shot quite a few and have to agree that they are probably the ultimate in sporting bird guns.
I did own a pair of SxS's once that I ordered from a catalog way back when, may have been shotgun news but I really can't remember. They were Richlands,a 12 and a 20.They were good shotties, but I started getting into handguns along about that time and never really got the good out of them.
Traded the 12 on a Hi-Power,but kept the 20 and used it for a while on quail. One day I'd like to get one of the light Browning O/U's if peace prevails.

Good to see a post from you Jim. I thought you vanished, brother.:)

Bought this first linked gun on July 4th this year :D

Just picked up the second pictured gun [ a Winchester 101 ] two weeks ago :D

I've had this CZ SxS for almost a year:cool:

http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=62 You might have to hit this link a few times for it to come up.

Shot the Winchester today and hit 23 for 25 on the skeet range with it right out of the box. It only got better from there;)

This one fits me like a glove, neutral cant as I shoot left shouldered with the long guns and most are made for right handed shooters. One of the shop employees and I shoot the local skeet or the 16 station clays range every week. Jim's been on the clays range out here with one of his 20 ga. O/U's.

I had a Browning Citori Skeet grade that I used mainly for skeet and ocasionaly for little screamers (quail). I loved the gun, quick handling fit just right and made shooting and hitting easy, well at least as easy as it can be hitting quail. For hunting dove where I was at they were always pertty high and I had a side by side with Mod/Full chokes. If I could have had another Citori in mod/full with longer barrels I think I would have liked it better than the side by. It just never felt as good as the Browning, I can't say why, perhaps it just seemed bulky looking down the middle of both tubes, I dunno!

There is something about shooting doubles that I like better for hunting as opposed to a pump or auto, I think it is the lack of the boom shuka boom and all the clanking hardware. Plus you have to work for it with only two rounds instead of three.

B,

Those are some sweet shotties... wish I was rich! Or is it gun poor:D

RAM,

The Browning was on a special 4th of July weekend sale, the Winchester came into the shop with 25 rds through it and was less than 1/2 the retail price.

The CZ was a gift for a favor I did for that friend I shoot with [ I trained him on the QK rifle/shotties skills so he could keep up ]:D

I really like the Winchester and almost passed it up even with the ridiculously low ball price the guy wanted for it. Took a chance as it was cant neutral and it turns out it's the gun for me in O/U's that I've shot so far.

I don't shoot the CZ, it sits NIB. I have an old Savage/Stevens from around 1953 I use occasionally for SxS shooting. It's a workhorse of a gun, it's broken the safety lever, the screws have pulled out of the foregrip holding the locking mechanism to the barrels and I've had both fixed so it's serviceable on the range or in the field.

It's sort of funny to think I've had the skills since 81 with McDaniel on these guns and never did buy or shoot shotties like this till I moved out here and my friend got me to try the range with one. It's been downhill since then, as you've surmised by now I'm sure.

Damned that OCD :(

btw-the recoil spring kit is working out very well thanks.

Hope to see more of everyone's "gentlemens" guns in this thread in the future, good thread start Jim.

OCD! :D But it's so much fun...

Glad the springs are helping out. When you get the right combo locktite the screw lest you need to but a new one.

This is a great start I hope to see lots of pictures, love double shotties!

Jim, Thanks for starting this thread. But I know it'l cost me:eek:

SXS's are classic... O/U are Classy!
