Well this will be the 3rd time I type this son of a bitch! I was talking to my old partner the other day and was telling him about some of the shooting I've been doing. I was usually the guy who went in first just because of my instinctive ability to hit things close quick. I have always been able to hit lets say a soft ball at 7 yards without aiming. I was telling him how I have improved on speed by learning some of you "old guys" methods like EU/ED I told him my speed more than doubled and he was amazed.
Question that has been nagging me is what CAR would do for me. I don't know anything about the principles or techniques behind car but can't help but believe it would make me a better shooter. Now at 5 yards I can draw and hit a baseball in very little time. As B knows I'm pretty sloppy I shoot from the center of my chest both arms tight against my chest. Its how I learned to shoot fast and keep the weapon hard to grab. When I use Threat focus techniques I'm a bit quicker EU/ED and some other methods. If I was still uphold the constitution I'd take these techniques more serious but I just shoot for fun. There's not many who can get the drop on me and very little who would get the first shot off. Besides I'm usually at dead run by then so they would have to shoot me in the ass anyway. But CAR nags at me. I've cleared a lot of buildings and usually your positioned up and the ambidextrous methods capable with CAR are interesting to me. So What say you CAR guys what would this disipline do for me? Jim |

I've thought about the CAR myself and have seen some of it that might work well in certain situations.I'm real curious about it too. It might not be for me but I can see the usefullness of it.I won't know until I try it,and I won't try it without learning it properly and learning the "why" of it. I'd like to hear and see more myself. I've tried some of the positions I've seen demonstrated and it felt ok with a 1911 and a Glock 19.Trying it with a G17 felt awkward and unnatural.Grip angle maybe?
I've heard some say that Paul Castle lives in the Nashville area.Maybe you should go to him since he's pretty close.

I'm interested in it also..did some study on it, ya know, watching the vid's, reading alot by DW and BR etc etc..heard they were opening up a place down here in Gainsville. One of these days I'll get up there and take the course. Another tool in the tool box. I really like it for seated in a vehicle and clearing corners of a room...I'm also left eye dominant but shoot right handed so it fits.

Paul is indeed based out of the Nashville area, but he travels extensively and while some people might know when he's in town, I never do unless there's a class on the schedule.
However, maybe what I should do is try to make it to the next big TFF gathering and spend an afternoon going over a lot of this stuff.
